11.52 Connectivity through firewall on Server 2008 RS
Issue Summary:
When
trying to allow access to HP ALM without having to completely take down the
firewall on the server. Allows access to
the Port. In this case the started port
of 8080 is used.
Prerequisites:
User
must have complete administrative access.
SQL
2008 installed, with firewall activated.
Steps:

Log
on to the data-tier server.

Click
“Start”, then click “Control Panel”

Click
on "Windows Firewall"
- On
Left Side of screen, click on "Advanced Settings"

This will open a new window called
"Windows Firewall with Advanced Security"
- On
Left Side of screen, click "Connection Security Rules"
- On
right Side of screen, click "New Rule..."

This will open a new window for you
to make your new Firewall rule

Select
the "Custom" Radial button, Click "Next"
- Verify
that both "Endpoint 1" and "Endpoint 2" are set to
"Any IP address". Click
"Next"
- Select
"Do not authenticate" radial button, Click "Next"

On
the protocol type dropdown menu, Select "TCP". This will allow inputs for EndPoint
1 and Endpoint 2 Ports

For
both Endpoint 1 & 2 ports, Select "Specific Port" from the drop
down menu. This will enable data to be entered
below the dropdown menu
- Type
"8080" for both the fields for Endpoint 1 & 2 Port. Click "Next"
- Verify
that "Domain", "Private", and "Public" are all
checked. Click "Next"
- Name
your Firewall rule, Click "Finish"
Verify:
With
firewall enabled on the server, verify you can load into the HP instance from a
different machine.
